Location: Rajnandgaon, India

The Rajnandgaon Police has stepped up security arrangements for the upcoming Ganesh festival and immersion ceremonies, with a comprehensive plan aimed at ensuring peaceful, safe and orderly celebrations across the district.

Under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, an extensive security and law-and-order plan has been prepared. Around 500 police personnel will be deployed during the festival, with special emphasis on law and order, crime control, traffic management, pandal security and night patrolling.

Special Drive Against Criminal and Anti-Social Elements

The Rajnandgaon Police has launched a special campaign to effectively control criminal and anti-social elements during the Ganesh festival. Suspected persons and individuals involved in criminal activities are being closely monitored, while necessary preventive action is being taken against them.

Area-wise information gathering and surveillance mechanisms have also been strengthened so that any potential incident can be prevented at an early stage.

Dedicated Social Media Monitoring Team

The police will maintain special surveillance on social media platforms throughout the festival. A separate social media monitoring team has been constituted to keep watch on objectionable, misleading or provocative content that could affect law and order.

Where necessary, immediate legal action will be initiated against those found involved in activities that could disturb peace or public order.

Anti-Crime and Intelligence Squad Formed

To strengthen crime prevention and intelligence gathering, the police have constituted a dedicated Anti-Crime and Intelligence Collection Squad.

The squad will remain active in sensitive and identified areas, monitoring criminal activities, suspicious individuals and anti-social elements. Based on information received from local sources, the team will facilitate prompt action whenever required.

Special Traffic Plan for Market Areas

A separate traffic management plan has also been prepared for the festival period. Special arrangements will be implemented over the next approximately 10 days to ensure smooth and orderly traffic, particularly in busy market areas of the city.

Entry of cars and e-rickshaws beyond designated points in congested market areas will be regulated to facilitate the movement of pedestrians and other commuters. Special circumstances and essential services will be kept outside these restrictions.

Police Coordination with Ganesh Pandal Committees

To strengthen coordination between the police and Ganesh festival committees, meetings with pandal committees have already been conducted in two phases.

During these meetings, various issues related to security arrangements, traffic management, pandal organisation, CCTV surveillance, crowd control and contacting the police during emergencies were discussed.

Visible Policing and Night Patrolling

The police has placed special emphasis on Visible Policing and effective patrolling during the festival. Field officers and station house officers will continuously patrol their respective areas and maintain a visible police presence.

Night patrolling will also be strengthened, particularly in sensitive and crowded locations, to enhance public confidence and keep anti-social elements under effective check.

Strict Warning to Anti-Social Elements

The Rajnandgaon Police has appealed to citizens to celebrate Ganesh festival with peace, harmony and discipline. At the same time, the police has issued a clear warning that activities affecting law and order will not be tolerated.

Criminal and anti-social elements have been advised to refrain from unlawful activities and follow the law. Failure to do so will invite strict legal action, including arrest and imprisonment as per law.

The Rajnandgaon Police has appealed to citizens and Ganesh festival committees to maintain close coordination with the police and immediately report any suspicious activity or law-and-order concern.

With enhanced deployment, specialised squads, traffic arrangements, social media monitoring and the “One Pandal – One Cop” initiative, the Rajnandgaon Police has stated that it is fully prepared for a safe, peaceful and harmonious Ganesh festival.
