Blood donation camp, health check-up, and tribute ceremony mark the remembrance of the 2009 Naxal attack

Rajnandgaon district police on Sunday paid heartfelt tributes to 29 police personnel, including then Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar Choubey, who lost their lives in the Korkotti Naxal attack of 2009. A commemorative ceremony was organized to mark the 17th anniversary of the incident, honoring the supreme sacrifice of the martyrs and recognizing the contributions of their families.
The programme also featured a free health check-up camp and a voluntary blood donation drive, with police personnel participating in large numbers.

Floral Tributes Paid to the Martyrs
The ceremony began with floral tributes at the statue of Martyr SP Vinod Kumar Choubey, followed by homage at the Martyrs’ Memorial and Mangal Bhavan in the Police Reserve Centre.
Police officers, public representatives, and citizens paid floral respects to the photographs of all 29 martyrs and observed a two-minute silence in their memory.
Martyrs’ Families Honoured
Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma felicitated the families of the martyrs by presenting them with shawls and coconuts as a mark of respect.
Interacting personally with the family members, she listened to their concerns and assured them that their issues would be addressed on priority.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Sharma said the sacrifice of the martyrs would always remain a source of inspiration for the police force and society, adding that supporting and respecting their families is a collective responsibility.

Police Personnel Donate Blood
As part of the memorial programme, a free medical check-up and voluntary blood donation camp were organized.
A total of 21 police officers and personnel voluntarily donated blood, paying tribute to the martyrs through a humanitarian initiative.
Public Representatives Join the Ceremony
Several dignitaries attended the event and paid homage to the fallen heroes, including:
- Lok Sabha MP Santosh Pandey
- Former MP Abhishek Singh
- Mayor Madhusudan Yadav
- Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Chairman Neelu Sharma
- BJP District President Komal Singh Rajput

The public representatives also met the families of the martyrs, heard their concerns, and assured them of continued support.
They emphasized that the courage and sacrifice of the martyrs remain invaluable to the nation and that the welfare of their families must remain a top priority.
Officials and Citizens Participate
The programme was attended by Collector Jitendra Yadav, Additional Superintendent of Police Kirtan Rathore, PTS DSP Kiran Chaudhary, Reserve Inspector Lokesh Kumar Kaser, police officers and personnel, family members of the martyrs, public representatives, journalists, and prominent citizens.
The ceremony concluded with a collective pledge to remember the bravery, patriotism, and supreme sacrifice of the martyrs while continuing to serve the nation and society with dedication.
