Interacts with residents of Lakholi and Baiga Para; inspects auditorium renovation and waste processing at Nawagaon trenching ground

Rajnandgaon Municipal Commissioner G.R. Markam conducted an extensive field inspection to review water supply, sanitation services, housing projects, and waste management across different parts of the city. During the visit, he interacted with residents of Lakholi Janata Colony and Baiga Para to assess civic services and issued directions to improve sanitation and infrastructure.
The inspection was carried out in the presence of Executive Engineer Deepak Khande, In-charge Health Officer Rajesh Mishra, and Sanitation Inspector Deepak Srivastava.
Residents Express Satisfaction with Water Supply
During his visit to Lakholi Janata Colony and Baiga Para, Commissioner Markam spoke directly with local residents regarding water supply and cleanliness.
Residents informed him that drinking water was being supplied adequately twice a day and sanitation services were functioning satisfactorily.

Considering the monsoon season and the area’s dense labour population, the Commissioner instructed the Health Department to intensify daily sanitation measures to prevent the outbreak of seasonal diseases.
Appeal for Better Waste Disposal
The Commissioner also inspected the Atal Awas residential complex and appealed to residents to maintain cleanliness and hand over household waste only to the designated Swachhata Didis for proper collection and disposal.
Reviews PMAY Housing Project
Markam inspected completed and under-construction houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) at Lakholi and reviewed the allotment process.
Executive Engineer Deepak Khande informed him that allotments are made strictly through the prescribed government procedure. He added that notices had been issued to unauthorized occupants, while eligible beneficiaries who had deposited the required amount would receive formal allotments as per norms.
Auditorium Renovation to be Completed Quickly
The Municipal Commissioner also visited the city auditorium to review the ongoing renovation work.

He directed officials to complete the remaining repair work at the earliest and instructed them to clean the premises by removing overgrown grass and thorny vegetation to improve the overall appearance and safety of the facility.
Faster Waste Processing at Nawagaon Trenching Ground
At the Nawagaon Trenching Ground, Commissioner Markam reviewed the city’s solid waste management system and inspected various stages of waste processing.
He instructed officials to ensure that all machinery remains operational and emphasized source-level waste segregation at households in addition to segregation at SLRM (Solid Liquid Resource Management) Centres.
He directed officials to accelerate waste processing after transportation to the trenching ground.

Emphasis on Segregation and Compost Production
Inspecting the SLRM Centre at the trenching ground, the Commissioner examined records related to daily wet and dry waste collection.
He instructed officials to maximize segregation at SLRM centres and ensure that only waste collected from roads, drains, and public places reaches the trenching ground.
He also reviewed the composting process and directed officials to increase the production of organic compost from biodegradable waste to strengthen sustainable waste management.
