During the special drive conducted throughout April, police successfully traced and reunited 280 missing women, men, and children with their families.

Massive Search Drive Across States

According to police officials, the campaign was carried out from April 1 to April 30, 2026, following directives issued by the Police Headquarters.

Under Operation Talash, police traced 166 missing women and 88 men, bringing the total number of recovered missing persons to 254. Simultaneously, under Operation Muskaan, the police safely rescued 23 minor girls and 3 boys, taking the total number of recovered children to 26.

Police teams conducted extensive searches not only across Chhattisgarh but also in several other states across India.

Nationwide Coordination Ensures Success

Search operations were carried out in multiple states, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

Officials confirmed that more than 72 missing persons were traced from outside Chhattisgarh, highlighting strong inter-state coordination and investigative efforts.

Families Reunited After Months of Separation

All rescued individuals were handed over to their families after completing due legal procedures. The reunions brought relief and emotional moments for several families who had been searching for their loved ones.

Leadership and Team Effort Behind Achievement

The success has been credited to the leadership of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Kirtan Rathore, and supervision by City Superintendents of Police Vaishali Jain and Alexander Kiro, along with the proactive efforts of all station in-charges across the district.

Police authorities stated that similar special campaigns will continue in the future to trace missing persons promptly and strengthen public trust.
