Rajnandgaon Gets Major Power Boost as 320 MVA Capacity Added at Litiya-Semaria Substation; Semiconductor Park to Benefit

In a significant boost to Chhattisgarh’s power transmission infrastructure, the Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company Limited (CSPTCL) has commissioned an additional 320 MVA transformation capacity at the 220/132 kV Litiya-Semaria Substation in Rajnandgaon district.

The expansion is expected to strengthen electricity transmission across Rajnandgaon and Durg while ensuring reliable power supply for the proposed Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC-2.0)/Semiconductor Park at Patewa and the upcoming industrial zone at Bijebhat.

Two 160 MVA Power Transformers Successfully Energised

Managing Director Rajesh Kumar Shukla successfully energised two 160 MVA power transformers at the Litiya-Semaria substation on Monday.

The first transformer was commissioned at 5:22 PM, followed by the second at 5:27 PM, increasing the substation’s total transformation capacity by 320 MVA.

Improved Power Reliability for Consumers and Industries

According to the transmission company, the enhanced capacity will significantly strengthen the regional transmission network and improve load management in line with rising electricity demand.

The upgrade will ensure a more reliable and high-quality electricity supply for:

  • Industrial consumers
  • Agricultural users
  • Domestic households
  • Future industrial investments

Major Boost for Rajnandgaon’s Semiconductor Park

The project is expected to play a key role in supporting Rajnandgaon’s industrial expansion.

Electricity from the Litiya-Semaria Substation will be supplied through a 132 kV transmission line to the proposed Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC-2.0)/Semiconductor Park at Patewa and the planned industrial area at Bijebhat.

Officials said the strengthened transmission infrastructure will facilitate industrial investment, accelerate manufacturing projects, and create new employment opportunities in the district.

Transmission Network Being Modernised

Managing Director Rajesh Kumar Shukla said the state government is continuously expanding and modernising the transmission network to support industrial growth while ensuring reliable electricity for consumers.

He added that the enhanced capacity at the Litiya-Semaria substation has been designed to meet both current requirements and future demand.

Senior officials present during the commissioning included Executive Director (Line) Sanjay Patel, Executive Director (PC & RA) K.S. Minothia, Executive Director (Transmission) V.K. Dixit, Executive Director (O&M) Sanjay R.B. Khandelwal, Executive Director (Durg Region) Shirish Salet, along with engineers and project personnel.
