Jitendra Yadav Directs Nutritious Food, Nutrition Garden and Regular Monitoring of Malnourished Children

Collector Jitendra Yadav inspected the Anganwadi Centre at Baghera village in Rajnandgaon development block on Wednesday and reviewed the nutrition and health status of children.
The Collector directed Anganwadi workers to give special attention to improving the nutritional status of children and ensure effective implementation of nutrition-related activities in accordance with government guidelines.
He instructed that the food served to children should contain minimum amounts of spices and oil and should be nutritious and balanced. He emphasised that there should be no compromise with the quality and nutritional value of food provided to children.
Nutrition Garden to Be Developed Near Anganwadi Centre
The Collector directed officials to immediately develop a nutrition garden near the Anganwadi Centre and plant moringa along with other nutritious plants.
He also instructed that the nutrition garden be maintained regularly and that children and parents be made aware of the importance of nutritious food and a balanced diet.
More Play Materials to Be Made Available
The Collector said adequate play materials and toys should be available for children at the Anganwadi Centre.
He appealed to citizens to donate toys and useful play materials through public participation, so that children can receive a better environment for learning and overall development.
Special Monitoring of Malnourished Children
The Collector directed officials to focus on improving the nutritional status of two identified malnourished children at the Anganwadi Centre and make efforts to free them from malnutrition within the next two months.
He instructed officials to regularly monitor the health and nutritional status of children and provide additional nutrition and care wherever required.

Regular assessment of children’s weight, health and nutritional status was also directed, along with continuous review of their progress.
Awareness Against Child Marriage to Continue
During the visit, the Sarpanch informed the Collector that the village is free from child marriage.
The Collector appreciated the information and directed that awareness efforts against child marriage should continue. He also instructed that all necessary efforts be made to ensure that no situation leading to child marriage arises in the village.
