The Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is being implemented effectively and consistently across Rajnandgaon district, providing significant relief to consumers while promoting clean, green and renewable energy. Under the scheme, beneficiaries are experiencing reduced electricity expenses along with long-term economic and environmental benefits.

Senior Agriculture Extension Officer J.P. Sahare, posted in Chhuriya block, has installed a 3-kilowatt solar rooftop power plant at his private residence in Dongargaon. After the installation of the solar system under the scheme, his electricity bill has dropped to zero, resulting in regular monthly savings.

Sharing his experience, Sahare said that he received a subsidy of ₹78,000 from the Central Government and ₹30,000 from the State Government, which was credited directly to his bank account as per guidelines. He described the scheme as highly beneficial, both economically and environmentally.

Under the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, a total of 19 officers and employees of the Agriculture Department have installed solar rooftop panels at their residences. This initiative by government officials is being seen as a commendable step towards adopting renewable energy and setting an example for the wider public.
