To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has planned a large-scale ‘Unity March’ across the entire Rajnandgaon Lok Sabha constituency, along with a series of educational, cultural, and social programs.

Announcing the campaign during a press conference at the BJP district office, MP Santosh Pandey said that the Unity March, scheduled from October 31 to November 25, is part of a nationwide movement to honor the Iron Man of India. “Sardar Patel’s unwavering commitment to national unity, his diplomatic acumen, and his leadership continue to inspire generations. This march is a tribute to his timeless legacy,” Pandey said.

He added that the Unity March aims to connect Patel’s vision of a united India with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission of a developed and self-reliant nation. As part of the celebration, a three-day padyatra will be organized in every parliamentary region, covering 8–10 kilometers daily, spreading awareness about Swadeshi and Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

Pandey emphasized that ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ is not just a slogan but a manifestation of patriotism, initiated as part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, which began on September 25 (Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Jayanti) and will continue until December 25 (Atal Bihari Vajpayee Jayanti). The campaign includes activities like Aatmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Sammelans and Rath Yatras, aimed at taking the message of ‘Vocal for Local’ to every household.

Speaking on economic reforms, Pandey lauded the GST 2.0 initiative, noting that it has revitalized market enthusiasm. “While interacting with traders, I’ve seen an incredible response toward local products and GST reforms. Everyone is united in the resolve to build a self-reliant, developed India using indigenous products,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, BJP State General Secretary Yashwant Jain said that the Unity March will be organized in all districts and states, ensuring mass participation. Each padyatra will include public representatives, local MPs, and ministers-in-charge, covering 8–10 kilometers per day. Special focus will be placed on youth participation, with events in schools and colleges, including essay and debate competitions, and seminars on Sardar Patel’s life and vision of national integration.

Jain added that five youth representatives from each district will travel to Nagpur, from where a symbolic Unity Caravan will proceed to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birthplace, reinforcing the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.

The press conference was attended by District BJP President Komal Singh Rajput, Santosh Agrawal, Sachin Baghel, Yogesh Dutt Mishra, General Secretary Saurabh Kothari, Tarun Leharwani, Manoj Nirvani, and Banti Lal, among other senior leaders.
