Mayor Madhusudan Yadav launches awareness drive, calls for public participation to achieve TB-free district

A district-level programme was आयोजित in Rajnandgaon to mark World Tuberculosis Day under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, with a focus on strengthening awareness and accelerating efforts towards a TB-free district.
The event was held at the district hospital auditorium, where Mayor Madhusudan Yadav attended as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized that tuberculosis can only be eliminated through collective efforts and active public participation. He urged citizens to become “Nikshay Mitras” and extend support to TB patients, while appealing for a united effort to make Rajnandgaon TB-free.
Marking the occasion, the Mayor flagged off an awareness vehicle to launch the second phase of the TB Mukt Bharat 100-day campaign. Certificates were also distributed to TB-free gram panchayats, and nutritional support kits were provided to TB patients. The attendees were administered a pledge for tuberculosis eradication.
Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Netram Navratan highlighted ongoing efforts in the district and called upon health workers to intensify screening and ensure timely treatment to eliminate the disease. Nodal Officer Dr. Alpana Luniya elaborated on the second phase of the campaign, stating that it will be conducted in four stages.

In the initial phase, community health workers will carry out door-to-door surveys targeting high-risk groups, including individuals with diabetes, low immunity, tobacco and alcohol users, and families of TB patients. Screening will be conducted using handheld X-ray devices, along with diagnostic tests for suspected cases during Ayushman Arogya camps.
Earlier, a rally was organized by nursing college students to spread awareness about TB prevention and treatment. The rally passed through key locations including Gaurav Path, Durga Chowk, Manav Mandir Chowk, Fountain Chowk, and Digvijay College Chowk, educating citizens about the disease. A signature campaign was also conducted within the district hospital premises to promote public awareness.
The programme was attended by Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahendra Prasad, Dr. B.L. Tulavi, District Data Manager Akhilesh Kumar Chopra, sarpanches of TB-free gram panchayats, urban health workers, and citizens.
Officials reiterated that sustained awareness, early detection, and community involvement remain crucial to achieving the goal of a TB-free India.
