MP Santosh Pandey Reviews Groundwater Recharge Structures under Mission Jal Raksha

Inspiring Community Participation Amid Heavy Rainfall, MP Emphasizes Water Conservation as a Public Movement

Member of Parliament Shri Santosh Pandey conducted a field inspection of various water conservation structures under the Mission Jal Raksha initiative in Farhad village of Janpad Panchayat Rajnandgaon. Amid heavy rainfall, the MP closely examined the technical aspects and practical utility of several groundwater recharge structures such as percolation tanks, injection wells, and hand pump-based soft recharge tanks.

During his visit, Shri Pandey interacted with engineers, officials, and local villagers, urging them to adopt water conservation as a people’s movement. He stated, “Water is life, and through Mission Jal Raksha, we are laying the foundation to secure our future water needs. This is not just an infrastructural project but also a step toward raising social awareness that will benefit future generations.”

The MP especially appreciated the injection wells integrated into the percolation tanks, noting that rainwater will now directly seep into the groundwater table. He also praised the innovative use of hand pump-based recharge structures, describing them as a novel approach to groundwater replenishment.

District’s Widespread Efforts Under Mission Jal Raksha
Chief Executive Officer of Zila Panchayat Ms. Suruchi Singh informed that under Mission Jal Raksha, the district has already constructed 1,693 percolation tanks and a large number of other recharge structures. These efforts include identifying fracture zones and channeling rainwater directly into the groundwater system to combat future water crises.

She added that the district administration is committed to expanding this campaign, integrating public participation and leadership from elected representatives, which is making the initiative more impactful.

The inspection was also attended by President and Members of the Janpad Panchayat Rajnandgaon, local officials, public representatives, and a large number of villagers, reflecting strong grassroots support for the mission.
