In preparation for the upcoming visit of the Vice President of India on November 5, Mayor Madhusudan Yadav and Municipal Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma carried out an early-morning inspection of cleanliness arrangements across several areas of the city, including Ganj Chowk, Balaji Temple, Hat Bazaar, Udayachal, and Mohara Mela Ground.

During the inspection, the Mayor directed the health department officials to ensure qualitative improvement in sanitation and public health services. He emphasized that the Hat Bazaar, being a daily gathering point for vegetable and goods buyers, must be kept clean at all times. Vendors were also instructed to dispose of waste properly in garbage vehicles and maintain hygiene around their stalls.

The Mayor further instructed regular cleaning near Balaji Temple, Ganj Chowk, and Udayachal, especially in view of the approaching Diwali and Chhattisgarh State Foundation Day celebrations. With the Vice President’s visit and State Assembly inauguration events scheduled nearby, he ordered intensified cleaning around the State School Ground, GE Road, and the Assembly Speaker’s residence.

Commissioner Vishwakarma directed officials to ensure daily cleaning of public toilets at Hat Bazaar, proper water supply, and regular waste removal from nearby dumping points. He also instructed teams to clean along Mohara Road, road dividers, and the mela ground. Strict action under construction debris and encroachment regulations was ordered against those dumping materials or obstructing public pathways.

Executive Engineer Pranay Meshram was instructed to complete remaining works at the Mohara Mela site promptly. The inspection was attended by Councilor Jainam Baid, senior journalist Vinesh Chopra, and technical and health department staff of the corporation.

Meanwhile, it has come to light that the Udayachal area, where the Vice President will inaugurate the new state-of-the-art eye hospital, has been struggling with waste accumulation. Locals often dump household garbage in open spaces after dark, and the corporation is reportedly facing staff shortages and pending salary issues for contractual sanitation workers.

Despite these challenges, Commissioner Vishwakarma’s active supervision of the cleanliness drive has drawn public attention and appreciation across the city.
