Announces ₹10 Lakh for Community Hall Construction in Rajnandgaon’s Rewadih Area
Speaker Attends Oath-Taking Ceremony and First Convention of Newly Elected Office-Bearers of All India Halba-Halbi Tribal Society Central Employees’ Wing

Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh described the Halba community as one of the most organized and socially aware tribal societies in the state while addressing the oath-taking ceremony and first convention of the newly elected office-bearers of the Central Employees’ Wing of the All India Halba-Halbi Tribal Society.
The programme was held at the Padma Shri Govindram Nirmalkar Auditorium in Rajnandgaon, where the newly elected office-bearers took the oath of office in the presence of Dr. Singh. Congratulating the newly elected team, he extended his best wishes for their future responsibilities and contributions to society.
Responding to a demand raised by the community, Dr. Raman Singh announced financial assistance of ₹10 lakh for the construction of a community hall on land available for the society in Ward No. 22, Rewadih, Rajnandgaon.

Celebration of Culture, Tradition and Social Awakening
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Singh said the event represented a celebration of the Halba community’s rich cultural heritage, traditions and social consciousness. He noted that the identity and contribution of the Halba community extend beyond Chhattisgarh and are visible in several states, including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, where members of the community continue to play an important role in the mainstream development process.
He also appreciated the organizational structure of the national federation of the Halba community, describing it as a strong and effective voice for tribal society.
Tribal Community’s Contribution to Nation-Building
Dr. Singh highlighted the historical legacy of bravery and sacrifice associated with the tribal community. He said tribal societies have played a significant role not only in India’s freedom movement but also in every stage of nation-building.
He emphasized that the tribal way of life has long embodied the principles of conserving water, forests and land, values that today serve as an inspiration for the entire world in the context of environmental sustainability.
Government Committed to Tribal Welfare
The Assembly Speaker stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, tribal welfare, dignity and development have received renewed momentum. He cited initiatives such as the celebration of Birsa Munda Jayanti as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, the expansion of Eklavya Model Residential Schools, the establishment of Van Dhan Vikas Kendras and special welfare programmes for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) as examples of the government’s commitment to tribal empowerment.

He further remarked that the leadership of President Droupadi Murmu and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stands as a symbol of pride and inspiration for tribal communities across the country.
Call for Education, Women’s Empowerment and Social Unity
Dr. Raman Singh urged the newly elected office-bearers to work towards connecting more young people with education, empowering women, strengthening social unity and preserving the community’s rich cultural traditions for future generations.
He emphasized that the greatest strength of any society lies in maintaining a balance between preserving traditions and embracing progress.
The programme was also addressed by Manturam Pawar, National President of the All India Halba Tribal Society National Federation; Govind Ram Churendra, newly appointed Central President of the Central Employees’ Wing; former presidents P.R. Naik and R.S. Nayak; and several other community leaders.
Social worker Komal Singh Rajput, former National Federation President G.R. Rana, senior office-bearers, public representatives and a large number of community members were also present on the occasion.
