Senior state administrative officer G.R. Markam officially assumed charge as the new Commissioner of the Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation on Wednesday afternoon. After taking charge at the Municipal Corporation office, he interacted with officials and employees and reviewed the corporation’s ongoing development projects and administrative functioning.
Official Appointment by State Government
G.R. Markam was appointed as the Municipal Commissioner through an order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), Government of Chhattisgarh, Mahanadi Bhawan, Nava Raipur Atal Nagar.
According to Order No. ESDB 102(1)/414/2026-GAD-4 dated July 7, 2026, Markam, a Chhattisgarh State Administrative Service (State Civil Service), RR-2014 batch officer, has been transferred from the post of Additional Collector, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district, to serve as the Commissioner of Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation.

Familiar Face in Rajnandgaon
Markam is well acquainted with Rajnandgaon district, having previously served in key administrative positions in the region.
During his earlier assignments, he worked as:
- Tehsildar, Rajnandgaon
- Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Dongargarh
His previous tenure in the district has provided him with extensive knowledge of local administrative issues, civic infrastructure, and development priorities.
Focus on Development and Governance
Following his assumption of office, Markam held an introductory meeting with Municipal Corporation officials and staff members. He also sought preliminary information on ongoing civic projects, administrative functioning, and development initiatives being implemented by the corporation.
Officials expressed confidence that his administrative experience and familiarity with the district would help accelerate municipal development works and improve civic governance in Rajnandgaon.
With his appointment, the Municipal Corporation is expected to focus on strengthening urban infrastructure, improving public services, and ensuring the timely execution of development projects.
