District Panchayat CEO Joins Swachhata Festival in Tilaiwar and Tappa Villages

Awareness Rally Held to Educate Villagers on Cleanliness, Waste Management and Plastic-Free Practices

District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Ms. Suruchi Singh took part in the Swachhata Festival organised in Tilaiwar and Tappa villages under the Dongargaon development block on Friday. The event aimed to sensitise villagers about hygiene, waste management and the importance of maintaining a clean environment.

As part of the programme, a Swachhata Awareness Rally was taken out, during which participants raised slogans related to cleanliness and proper plastic management. The rally created widespread awareness among residents regarding the need to reduce plastic use and adopt responsible waste practices.

‘Clean Village Is the Foundation of a Healthy Village’

Addressing the participants, Ms. Singh emphasised that cleanliness is the cornerstone of a healthy community and that active involvement of every citizen is essential. She highlighted various aspects of rural sanitation including household waste collection, waste segregation, user charges and management of both solid and liquid waste through greywater systems.

She urged villagers to maintain cleanliness in their homes, streets, neighbourhoods and public areas, and to contribute to making the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan a mass movement.

Review of Door-to-Door Waste Collection

Ms. Singh also interacted with Swachhata Didis, taking updates on door-to-door waste collection activities. She instructed the village sarpanches, secretaries and panches to ensure timely collection of user charges and prompt payment of honorarium to the Swachhata Didis.

Appealing to residents, she stressed the importance of paying monthly sanitation fees on time to keep the system functioning smoothly.

Large Community Participation

The event witnessed the participation of public representatives, the CEO of Janpad Panchayat Dongargaon, the Sub-Divisional Officer of Rural Engineering Services, village sarpanches, panches, secretaries, school children, teachers, Swachhata volunteers, government staff and a large number of villagers.

The Swachhata Festival reinforced the district administration’s commitment to building cleaner, healthier and more sustainable rural communities.
