A large-scale cleanliness and environmental awareness drive was successfully conducted at Kaurinbhatha Pond in Rajnandgaon early Saturday morning. The campaign witnessed the enthusiastic participation of Mayor Madhusudan Yadav, District Cooperative Bank Chairman Sachin Baghel, former Mandi Vice President Komal Singh Rajput, and several local councillors and social workers.

Residents, members of self-help women’s groups, and ward residents actively joined hands with civic leaders to clean the pond surroundings, collecting trash, sweeping the area, and removing thorny bushes growing around the banks.

Following the clean-up, tree plantation was carried out along the pond’s edges as a symbol of commitment to environmental conservation and pond rejuvenation. The event culminated with a collective pledge to reduce the use of plastic, care for planted saplings, and continue efforts for a clean and green city.

Mayor Yadav, addressing the gathering, emphasized the power of community participation in maintaining urban cleanliness. “Only when every citizen contributes will we be able to make Rajnandgaon a clean and beautiful city,” he said. He also urged citizens not just to plant trees, but to ensure their proper care and growth.

He further called for a ban on single-use plastic and encouraged everyone to spread awareness within their neighborhoods about sustainable living practices.
