District Collector Jitendra Yadav has directed all departments to work with full commitment and proactiveness toward the effective execution of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, one of the Government of India’s flagship initiatives for promoting clean and self-reliant energy.

Chairing a meeting with officers of the Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL) and representatives of various banks at the Collectorate conference hall, Yadav reviewed the progress of the scheme’s implementation in both urban and rural areas. He emphasized the importance of spreading awareness among citizens about the scheme’s benefits, urging them to apply in large numbers to avail of free solar electricity.

“The Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar scheme is a transformative program aimed at empowering households through renewable energy. Officials must ensure that its impact is visible at the grassroots level,” said Yadav. He instructed that weekly reviews be conducted to monitor registration, installation, and beneficiary satisfaction.

Highlighting the scheme’s long-term benefits, he stated that solar energy would lead to significant electricity savings, zero power bills, and an overall improvement in quality of life for citizens. The Collector also stressed the need to encourage both residential colonies and rural households to adopt rooftop solar systems under the program.

Yadav conducted a detailed review of the work of all Assistant Engineers of CSPDCL, instructing them to expedite on-ground activities. He warned that vendors showing negligence in execution would face strict action. The Collector directed vendors to work across both small and large scales for efficient installation of solar panels.

He also instructed that online registration and vendor selection processes be streamlined for applicants. The scheme allows beneficiaries to choose their vendors directly, with net-metering facilities enabling grid integration and providing consumers the opportunity to generate additional income from surplus power.

“Setting up rooftop solar plants will make electricity consumers self-reliant and environmentally responsible,” Yadav added.

The meeting was attended by CSPDCL Executive Engineer Mukesh Sahu, Lead Bank Manager Munish Sharma, and other banking officials who assured their full cooperation in financing and facilitating the scheme’s implementation.
