In a proactive effort to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in the district, Collector Jitendra Yadav today spoke over the phone with a high-risk pregnant woman, Smt. Hemkumari, from village Rampur under the Maharajpur Sub Health Center in Chhuria development block. During the call, the Collector enquired about her health condition and advised her to take prescribed medicines and nutritious food regularly.
Smt. Hemkumari informed that her first delivery was conducted through a cesarean section. She expressed her preference for her second delivery to take place at the District Hospital or Medical College Pendri, ensuring safety for both mother and child. The Collector assured that the Health Department will continue to monitor her health from time to time.

The district administration has undertaken a special initiative under which all high-risk pregnant women are contacted every week from the district level to monitor their health status. For those expecting delivery within the next 15 days, Mitanins (community health workers) are visiting their homes daily to check on their well-being, provide guidance, and ensure timely care.
According to the Health Department, there are currently 1,315 high-risk pregnant women in the district. Continuous monitoring is being conducted through regular phone calls, home visits, and counseling. Along with medical advice, these women are being guided on nutrition, medication schedules, rest, and precautions needed for safe delivery.
The Collector reiterated that these measures aim to ensure safe motherhood and prevent maternal and infant deaths by promoting institutional delivery and improving access to healthcare services.
