CMHO Conducts Surprise Inspection of Health Centres in Rajnandgaon, Reviews Patient Care and HPV Vaccination Drive

Health facilities, cleanliness, diarrhoea campaign, institutional deliveries, and high-risk pregnancy management reviewed during inspection

Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Netaram Navratan conducted surprise inspections of the Community Health Centre (CHC), Dongargaon, and Primary Health Centre (PHC), Khujji to review healthcare services, infrastructure, and the implementation of key public health programmes.

During the visit, Dr. Navratan also participated in the weekly health session held every Wednesday at the Ayushman Arogya Centre, Khujji, where he assessed the functioning of the facility and interacted with healthcare staff.

Focus on cleanliness and seasonal disease preparedness

The CMHO reviewed sanitation arrangements at the Primary Health Centre and assessed preparedness for treating seasonal illnesses, dog bite, and snake bite cases.

He directed health officials to establish an ORS Corner under the Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2026 at the health centre without delay. He also instructed officials to increase institutional deliveries, ensure timely ultrasound examinations for high-risk pregnant women, and regularly monitor their health through telephonic follow-up.

Patients’ feedback taken at Dongargaon CHC

At the Community Health Centre in Dongargaon, Dr. Navratan interacted directly with admitted patients to gather feedback on the quality of medical services being provided.

He instructed officials to develop the Dongargaon Community Health Centre as a model health facility for the district. He also directed that the Block Programme Unit currently operating from the old building be shifted to the newly constructed Block Public Health Unit (BPHU) building within one week.

Awareness campaign on HPV vaccination

During the inspection, Dr. Navratan interacted with schoolgirls and created awareness about the importance of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination in preventing cervical cancer, one of the leading causes of cancer among women.

As part of the ongoing HPV vaccination campaign, 26 adolescent girls received the vaccine during the visit. Across Rajnandgaon district, 160 adolescent girls were vaccinated on the day, taking the cumulative number of beneficiaries to 4,444.

Mitanins asked to motivate parents

The CMHO directed all Mitanins and Mitanin Facilitators to actively contact parents and guardians to encourage eligible adolescent girls to receive the HPV vaccine and improve immunization coverage across the district.

District Programme Manager Sandeep Tamrakar, District NCD Consultant Dr. Vikas Rathore, along with health officials and frontline healthcare workers, were present during the inspection.
