Hindu organizations and local community intensify agitation; family regains custody of daughter from Sakhi One Stop Centre

Following continuous protests and agitation by Hindu organizations and local community groups, a young woman belonging to a Kayastha Hindu family in Rajnandgaon was reportedly rescued from the alleged influence of a Muslim युवक in what several organizations described as a “love jihad” case.
The young woman was later handed over to her parents from the Sakhi One Stop Centre. Hindu organizations termed the development as a major victory against alleged “love jihad” and an example of Hindu unity.
Allegations Made by Family and Organizations
According to the information shared by local groups, the young woman from a Kayastha family in Rajnandgaon was allegedly trapped in a false romantic relationship by a Muslim युवक. It was claimed that the accused had brainwashed the girl and taken her away from home.
Following the incident, the family lodged a missing person complaint with the police. After a few days, preparations for the marriage of the couple were reportedly underway, and a hearing in connection with the matter had been scheduled in the SDM Court on the 29th of the month.
Family members and Hindu organizations strongly opposed the development. Allegations were also raised that adequate action was not taken initially despite complaints at the police station. During the legal process, the young woman was kept at the Sakhi One Stop Centre.
Hindu Organizations Launch Protest
Several organizations, including Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, Shiv Sena, Hindu Sabha, Kayastha Samaj Rajnandgaon, and other groups jointly carried out protests in connection with the case.
The agitation reportedly included:
- Demonstrations and gherao outside the Collectorate
- Sit-in protests and road blockades
- Public awareness campaigns and recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa
- Participation of women and members from various Hindu community groups
Following continuous public demonstrations and legal proceedings, the administration eventually handed over the young woman to her parents from the Sakhi One Stop Centre.

Reactions From Community Leaders
Jaynarayan Srivastava, National General Secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Kayastha Mahasabha based in Delhi, thanked all organizations and peaceful citizens for their support.
He stated that the outcome represented the unity of the Hindu community. He further explained that the Sakhi One Stop Centre functions as a judicial branch under the Women and Child Development Department and that the girl was handed over to her parents through due legal procedure.
Local representatives of Kayastha Samaj, VHP, Bajrang Dal, and other organizations described the development as an example of “Love Jihad Fail, Hindu Unity Pass.” They also stated that vigilance would continue against such incidents and that legal and social action would be pursued whenever required.
Background of the Matter
The report stated that while Chhattisgarh is a Hindu-majority state, cases described by organizations as “love jihad” occasionally emerge in certain areas.
In this particular case, no major protest or violent reaction was reportedly seen from the Muslim side, which several people viewed as a positive sign that the matter was being addressed through legal channels and public pressure.
Concerns, however, continue regarding the young woman’s mental condition and the security of the family. Police are currently investigating the entire matter.
