Farmers briefed on Kharif planning, pulse and oilseed procurement registration, fertilizer management and crop diversification

The Department of Agriculture organized a comprehensive training programme at the development block headquarters in Chhuriya under the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme, aimed at strengthening farmers’ preparedness for the upcoming Kharif season.
The training focused on several key agricultural priorities, including the registration process for procurement of pulse and oilseed crops, advance planning for the forthcoming Kharif crop cycle, strategic planning for oilseed cultivation, alternatives during fertilizer shortages, and advance lifting of fertilizers. Officials emphasized the importance of timely registration and proactive input management to ensure seamless procurement and improved productivity.

Approximately 90 farmer members, including representatives of farmer groups and other cultivators, participated in the programme and benefited from expert guidance. Agricultural specialists provided detailed information on modern farming techniques, balanced use of fertilizers, crop diversification strategies and market linkages. The session also highlighted the importance of adopting scientific agricultural practices to enhance yield, reduce production risks and improve income sustainability.
Farmers were advised to make maximum use of government schemes and ensure timely compliance with procedural requirements, particularly in relation to crop registration and fertilizer procurement. Officials stressed that early planning and efficient resource management play a crucial role in minimizing input-related disruptions during peak agricultural seasons.
During the programme, several progressive farmers were felicitated for their exemplary work and contribution to agricultural development. Those honoured included Mrs. Anju Sahu from Gahirabhedi village; Mr. Ramsajeevan and Mr. Hooman Lal Sahu from Garrapar; Mr. Sunil Sahu from Lalmetha; Mr. Bharat Lal and Mr. Chinta Ram Yadav from Pairitola, among others.

The training programme was attended by Agriculture Standing Committee Chairperson of Chhuriya Mrs. Utra Nishad; Senior Agriculture Development Officer Mr. G.P. Sahade; Dr. Vikas Singh; Assistant Rural Agriculture Extension Officer Mr. Sudesh Patel; Pathology Expert Mr. Santosh Sahu; RAEO Mr. Rameshwar Sinha and Mr. Hitesh Gupta, along with other departmental officials.
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by the Agriculture Department to promote scientific farming practices, strengthen institutional support and enhance farmers’ capacity to plan and manage crops effectively in the district.
