Police seize narcotics and motorcycle worth ₹2.50 lakh in major anti-drug operation under NDPS Act

In a major action against drug trafficking, police in Dongargarh police station area of Rajnandgaon district arrested one accused and detained a juvenile in conflict with law. Police seized 5.610 kilograms of ganja along with a motorcycle from their possession, with the total value of the seized items estimated at around ₹2.50 lakh.
Police Crackdown on Illegal Activities
According to police officials, continuous action is being taken against illegal activities in the district under the direction of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, with guidance from Additional Superintendent of Police Kirtan Rathore and SDOP Keshari Nandan Nayak.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a police team led by Station House Officer Suman Jaiswal and Inspector Santosh Jaiswal initiated a special operation after receiving information from an informer.
Accused Caught Red-Handed During Police Operation
Based on the tip-off, police conducted a blockade near Chauthan Mod on Jail Road on April 23, 2026. During the operation, accused Mohit alias Montu Malekar (35), a resident of Ward No. 21, Dongargarh, along with a 16-year-old juvenile, was apprehended while transporting ganja on a motorcycle.
Narcotics and Vehicle Seized
Police recovered 5.610 kilograms of ganja valued at approximately ₹1 lakh and seized a motorcycle worth around ₹1.50 lakh from the accused. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 20(B) of the NDPS Act, and both were produced before the court as per legal procedure.
Accused Has Criminal History
Police officials stated that the main accused, Mohit Malekar, already has 10 criminal cases registered against him, including offences related to theft, robbery, the Arms Act and NDPS Act violations.
Police Team Appreciated for Swift Action
The successful operation was carried out with the notable contribution of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Trainee) Suman Jaiswal, Inspector Santosh Jaiswal, Assistant Sub-Inspector Dhanlal Sinha and other members of the police team.
