The city of Rajnandgaon witnessed a grand celebration on Saturday as Mayor and former MP Madhusudan Yadav’s birthday transformed into a city-wide festival popularly dubbed the Madhu Mahotsav. From the early hours of August 22 until late evening on August 23, a steady stream of well-wishers, delegations, and admirers poured in from across the district and neighboring cities, turning the occasion into a two-day spectacle of enthusiasm and affection.

Banners and posters wishing the Mayor adorned not only Rajnandgaon but also Dongargaon, Dongargarh, Chhuria, Durg, Raipur, Kabirdham, Bilaspur, Balod, and Bemetara, reflecting his wide popularity.

Mayor Yadav began his special day with prayers at Sheetla Mata Temple in Motipur Shitalapara, followed by inaugurating a one-day health camp organized by the District AYUSH Department at Azad Chowk, where he reiterated his commitment to bringing better healthcare to citizens. He also planted saplings under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, promoting environmental sustainability.

Continuing the day’s engagements, Yadav visited several temples including Mahakali Temple at Baputola, and Sheetla Mata at Sonarpara, offering prayers with his family. Significantly, he celebrated with senior citizens at a local old-age home and shared moments of joy with differently-abled children at Abhilasha Sansthan.

By the afternoon, the Mayor stationed himself at his Civil Lines office, where he personally received citizens, supporters, and dignitaries for more than five continuous hours. During this period, he accepted greetings, floral tributes, and tokens of affection with humility and gratitude. He also encouraged volunteers at a blood donation camp organized by Chhatra Yuva Manch.

The city was electrified with the festive spirit as supporters cut cakes, played traditional drums, and set off fireworks in various neighborhoods. Citizens lined up to take selfies with the Mayor, further amplifying the celebratory atmosphere.

Rajnandgaon lived up to its title of Sanskardhani (city of culture) as it came alive in vibrant colors of festivity, with the Mayor’s birthday turning into a true public celebration — the Madhu Mahotsav.
