Chhattisgarh Silver Jubilee: Students Made Aware of Cyber Safety Under ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ Campaign

Women and Child Development Department Organizes Cyber Awareness Programs Across Schools with Police Cyber Experts

As part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Chhattisgarh’s formation, the Women and Child Development Department is conducting extensive cyber safety awareness programs in government and private schools across the district under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign.

Guided by Collector Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, the initiative involves cyber experts from the Police Department sensitizing schoolchildren, particularly adolescent girls, about the risks of online fraud and safe practices on digital platforms.

During the awareness sessions, students were briefed on critical issues such as provisions of the IT Act (Sections 67 A & B), cyberbullying, phishing, cyber grooming, online gaming scams, fake voice and video calls, SIM cloning, cyberstalking, fraudulent trading, share market and cryptocurrency traps, digital arrest scams, false loan offers, work-from-home job frauds, lottery messages, credit card fraud, fake insurance claims, and ATM card swapping.

Children were advised to avoid unknown calls, verify numbers through Truecaller, never share private or sensitive photos, refrain from engaging with child pornography or objectionable social media posts, and to always enable two-step verification, strong passwords, and privacy locks. They were also warned against fake matrimonial sites and unauthorized shopping portals. In case of cyber fraud, students were instructed to dial the national helpline 1930 immediately.
