In a heartfelt demonstration of appreciation, hundreds of residents from 41 drought-prone villages in Rajnandgaon reached Speaker House, Raipur, on Friday to thank senior BJP leader and local MLA Dr. Raman Singh. The region, which had been reeling under chronic water scarcity for decades, saw repeated crop failures and worsening economic conditions. Many villagers had accepted this hardship as their destiny, with previous appeals to the government yielding no result. However, with the intervention of Dr. Raman Singh, the long-stalled Lamti Feeder Project was brought back on track, delivering much-needed irrigation water and hope to the farming community.

Village elders and community representatives emotionally credited Dr. Singh for his sensitivity and dedication, likening his efforts to divine intervention. They recalled that despite repeated petitions in the past, no government responded effectively until Dr. Singh personally took up their cause.

District BJP President Komal Singh Rajput described the Lamti Feeder initiative as a milestone in water resource management and rural empowerment. He emphasized that the project not only ensures water security but also strengthens the vision of “Prosperous Villages, Empowered Farmers.”

Rajput also acknowledged the persistent efforts of former MP Abhishek Singh and current MP Santosh Pandey, who played a vital role in pushing the project forward through multiple reviews and administrative follow-ups.

Of the 41 villages benefited by the Lamti Feeder project, 10 were officially designated as severely drought-affected, including Bamhnitola, Dhangav, Sukuldaehan, Gatapar, Bagtarai, Deelapahari, Dharmapur, Dhaba Bargahi, and Litia.

The event saw the presence of several prominent leaders including former MP Abhishek Singh, District BJP President Komal Singh Rajput, BJP General Secretary Saurabh Kothari, Mandal President Manoj Sahu, Khileshwar Sahu, Rohit Chandrakar, Janpad President Pratima Chandrakar, Ashok Dewangan, Vivek Sahu, Janpad Vice-President Anita Sinha, Tikendra Sinha, Ramesh Chandrakar, Akash Chopra, Krishna Sahu, Balram Nirmalkar, Zila Panchayat Member Devkumari Sahu, and many others.

Their united presence underlined the community-wide recognition of this transformational step towards water sustainability and agricultural revival in rural Chhattisgarh.
