As part of Chhattisgarh’s ongoing efforts to support the spiritual aspirations of its elderly citizens, 313 beneficiaries from Rajnandgaon district will be sent on a religious pilgrimage to Shirdi, Shani Shingnapur, and Trimbakeshwar between May 14 and May 17, 2025. This initiative is facilitated under the Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana, which enables senior citizens to visit prominent religious sites at no personal cost.
The scheme is open to male and female senior citizens aged 60 years or above, as well as widowed and abandoned women. To ensure inclusivity, 80% of the selected pilgrims will be Below Poverty Line (BPL) cardholders, including those under the Antyodaya and Mukhyamantri Khadyann Yojana, while the remaining 20% will comprise non-income tax paying citizens who are above the poverty line.
In terms of regional distribution, 75% of the travelers will hail from rural areas and 25% from urban localities. Notably, preference will be given to those who have not previously availed of this scheme.
Eligible individuals can submit their applications at the offices of the Chief Executive Officers of Janpad Panchayats, Commissioners of Municipal Corporations, and Chief Municipal Officers of Nagar Palikas and Nagar Panchayats within Rajnandgaon district.
This initiative not only enhances access to spiritual fulfillment but also reflects the government’s commitment to inclusive welfare and senior citizen care.
