City District Congress Committee General Secretary and advocate Kusum Dubey has criticised the Chhattisgarh Government over the revision of fees in aided schools, Swami Atmanand schools and PM SHRI schools, alleging that the move will place an additional financial burden on students and their families.
In a statement, Ms. Dubey said that while the State Government has failed to recruit adequate teachers in schools and control inflation, it has also increased educational expenses, which she claimed would disproportionately affect economically weaker sections of society.

She stated that education plays the most important role in the progress of any state, and imposing additional financial burdens on students through fee hikes could adversely affect educational development. She alleged that instead of strengthening the education system through teacher recruitment, the government has permitted fee increases of up to 8 per cent in private schools and has also revised fees in government schools while describing the increase as only a partial revision.
According to Ms. Dubey, the revised fee structure has added to the concerns of parents and students. She further alleged that increases have been made not only in tuition-related charges but also in various other components, including Bharat Scouts and Guides fees, sports fees, science club charges, science practical fees and examination fees.
She claimed that after combining all fee components, the total fee for high school students has been increased from ₹410 to ₹500, while the fee for higher secondary students has been revised from ₹445 to ₹550. According to her, the prescribed fee for Class 10 and Class 12 students has been increased from ₹460 to ₹800.
Ms. Dubey further alleged that examination fees have been fixed at ₹480, marksheet fees at ₹200 and practical examination charges at ₹120 per subject. She also criticised the reported increase in examination fees for Open School students, describing the decision as detrimental to the objective of universal education.
The remarks were made as part of the Congress leader’s criticism of the State Government’s education policy and the recently revised fee structure.
