Mineral Department Intensifies Crackdown on Unauthorized Excavation and Transport Under Collector’s Directives

Acting on the directions of Collector Jitendra Yadav, the Mineral Department has been continuously carrying out enforcement actions against illegal excavation, storage and transportation of minerals across the district.
As part of the ongoing drive, a team from the department conducted surprise inspections in villages including Tumdibod, Kirgi, Bhanpuri, Dumardih Kala, Ghumka, Kalewa, Patewa, Jhurlakhurd and Bhatgaon under Rajnandgaon development block.

Action Against Illegal Murum Excavation and Transportation
During the inspection, authorities detected illegal excavation and transportation of murum, sand and limestone aggregates in Jhurlakhurd and Tumdibod villages and seized five vehicles involved in the violations.
In Jhurlakhurd village, action was taken against a JCB machine bearing registration number CG 08 AN 3872, owned by Babbu Khan of Khairagarh. The vehicle was being operated by driver Dinesh Verma of Sandi village.
Officials also seized a Hyva truck bearing registration number CG 08 L 3263, driven by Hulas Verma of Kuhkabod village, and a Mazda vehicle bearing registration number CG 08 AH 0546, driven by Samad Khan of Manpur village, for their involvement in the illegal excavation and transportation of murum.
All three vehicles were seized and handed over to Ghumka Police Station for further action.
Sand Transport Vehicle Seized in Sonbarsa
In a separate action at Sonbarsa village, authorities seized a Mazda vehicle bearing registration number CG 08 AX 2371, owned by Lalit Dhankar of Patewa village and driven by Roopchand of Aveli village, for the illegal transportation of sand.
The seized vehicle was also handed over to Ghumka Police Station.

Limestone Aggregate Transport Case in Tumdibod
In Tumdibod village, a Hyva truck bearing registration number CG 07 BF 8125, owned by Pintu Gupta of Dongargaon and driven by Amit Yadav of Arsitola village, was found transporting limestone aggregates illegally.
The vehicle was seized and handed over to Tumdibod Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Legal Action Under Mining Laws
Officials stated that action in all cases is being taken under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act.
The Mineral Department has reiterated that continuous patrolling and monitoring operations are being conducted across the district to prevent illegal excavation, transportation and storage of minerals.
