Minor Rape Accused Arrested; Girl Rescued from Mahasamund District

Rajnandgaon Police recover minor safely under Operation “Muskan”; accused sent to judicial custody

Rajnandgaon Police have arrested an accused involved in luring away and sexually exploiting a minor girl. The accused, identified as Rajkumar Verma, a resident of Amgaon village under Chhuria Police Station limits, was taken into custody by the police.

The minor girl was safely recovered from Birkoni in Mahasamund district, where she was allegedly kept by the accused.


Case Registered Following Father’s Complaint

The incident came to light after the victim’s father lodged a complaint on March 12, 2026, at Gendatola Police Station. Initially, the case was registered as an abduction.

During investigation, police launched action under Operation “Muskan” and traced the location of the minor girl, leading to her safe recovery.


Marriage Promise Used as Lure

Police investigation revealed that the accused allegedly lured the minor girl with a promise of marriage, took her away from home, and subjected her to physical exploitation.

Based on the findings, legal action was taken against the accused under Sections 137(2), 87, 64(2)(M), and 65(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 4 and 6 of the POCSO Act.

The accused was produced before the court and subsequently sent to judicial custody.


Police Team Conducted Successful Operation

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, Additional Superintendent of Police Kirtan Rathore, and SDOP Manjulata Baj.

The action was led by Gendatola Police Station In-charge Rajesh Kumar Sahu, with significant contributions from Meghnath Sinha, Mohit Sahu, Naresh Pradhan, and Jaleshwar Mandavi.
