Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajnandgaon District President Komal Singh Rajput has strongly condemned the alleged disrespectful remark made by Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal, against the President of India Droupadi Murmu.
In a statement issued here, Rajput said that the President is the first citizen of the country and the dignity of the office is of the highest importance. He termed the use of such language by a sitting Chief Minister as “extremely unfortunate and against the spirit of democratic values.”
Rajput further stated that President Murmu is not only the constitutional head of the nation but also a proud representative of India’s tribal community. “Any disrespectful comment against her is not only an insult to the highest constitutional office but also an affront to the entire tribal society of the country,” he said.
The BJP district president emphasized that political differences are a natural part of democracy, but respect for constitutional positions must always be maintained by public representatives. He said that such statements weaken the dignity of democratic institutions.
