On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a Women’s Literacy Seminar was organized at the District Panchayat auditorium in Rajnandgaon under the ULLAS Nav Bharat Literacy Programme.

The seminar focused on promoting women’s education, awareness of constitutional rights, and the importance of lifelong learning in building an empowered and progressive society.

Addressing the gathering, Gurpreet Kaur informed participants about the rights granted to women under the Constitution of India. She also shared information about important helpline services, including the women’s helpline 181 and the child protection helpline 1098, encouraging women to use these services whenever needed.

Speaking on the occasion, Rashmi Singh elaborated on the theme “Literate Women, Literate Society.” She emphasized that education is the cornerstone of social development and that there is no age limit for learning.

“Learning to read and write should never be a matter of hesitation. The desire to learn must remain alive throughout life,” she said, motivating women to pursue education and self-improvement.

Volunteer teachers participating in the programme also shared their views, stating that donating education is the greatest form of charity. They highlighted the satisfaction and joy that comes from helping an illiterate person become literate and encouraged people to share their knowledge with others so that they too can progress in life.

During the programme, newly literate women and volunteer teachers were honoured with certificates and mementos in recognition of their contributions to literacy promotion. Literacy kits were also distributed to participants who are beginning their journey toward education.

The event was attended by several officials and education representatives including Kamini Sahu, Nitin Hirwani, PD Sahu, Kalpana Patle, Manisha Kovarte and Yadu.

Cluster coordinators, newly literate women, and volunteer teachers also participated in large numbers, making the programme a meaningful platform for spreading awareness about women’s education and literacy.

Officials said such initiatives are essential for strengthening educational awareness and empowering women to actively participate in social and economic development.
