In a sensitive case involving assault and harassment of a woman and minor girls, the Surgi Police Outpost in Rajnandgaon district acted promptly and arrested six accused persons. The swift police response is being viewed as a strong example of law enforcement’s commitment toward women and child safety.
Allegations of Assault and Harassment
According to police sources, the accused allegedly assaulted a woman and her minor daughters, verbally abused them, and subjected them to mental and physical harassment before forcing them out of their residence.
Taking serious cognizance of the matter, police immediately registered a case and launched an investigation.
Case Registered Under Multiple Legal Provisions
The police registered offences under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 296, 115(2), 351(2), 85, and 3(5), along with Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, which deals with cruelty toward children.
Following a planned operation, all six accused—comprising both men and women—were arrested.

Action Under Senior Police Supervision
The operation was carried out under the direction of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, with guidance from Additional Superintendent of Police Kirtan Rathore and City Superintendent of Police Vaishali Jain.
The Surgi Police Outpost team collected material evidence related to the incident and secured sufficient documentation to support the case.
Victims’ Identities Protected
Considering the sensitivity of the case, police have kept the identities of the woman and minor victims strictly confidential. The matter has also been formally reported to the Juvenile Justice Board and placed under special monitoring.
Police Appeal to Citizens
Rajnandgaon Police appealed to citizens to immediately report incidents related to violence against women and children. Authorities also urged the public to refrain from sharing victims’ identities or sensitive information on social media platforms.
