In a deeply symbolic moment during the silver jubilee celebrations of Chhattisgarh’s statehood, former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Dr. Raman Singh presented a commemorative memento to Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the grand inauguration of the state’s new Legislative Assembly complex in Nava Raipur. Describing the occasion as a “moment of immense pride and privilege,” Dr. Singh expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister for dedicating the magnificent structure—widely hailed as the “Temple of Democracy”—to the people of Chhattisgarh.

The gesture took place amid thunderous applause in the assembly’s expansive atrium, where Dr. Singh, flanked by dignitaries, handed over the intricately crafted keepsake symbolizing the state’s cultural heritage and developmental aspirations. “Today, on this historic silver jubilee of Chhattisgarh Rajya Sthapna Diwas, presenting this memento to the honorable Prime Minister for inaugurating our new Vidhan Sabha is a personal honor I will cherish forever,” Dr. Singh remarked. He praised the Prime Minister’s vision, stating, “This grand and modern edifice is not just a building—it is the living embodiment of Chhattisgarh’s progress, its people’s dreams, and their unwavering faith in democratic governance.

“Spanning over 51 acres and constructed at a cost of Rs 324 crore, the state-of-the-art complex integrates cutting-edge sustainability with deep-rooted cultural identity. From solar-powered energy systems and rainwater harvesting to walls adorned with Bastar tribal art and ceilings inspired by the state’s iconic rice grain motifs, the design reflects Chhattisgarh’s journey from agrarian roots to a model of green urban infrastructure. The assembly hall, currently accommodating 100 members with provisions for future expansion, features advanced digital systems, enhanced security, and public amenities including healthcare units, banking, and postal services—all under one roof.

Dr. Singh emphasized the building’s larger significance: “I am fully confident that this Vidhan Sabha will elevate parliamentary dignity to new heights and set a benchmark for democratic processes in India.” He highlighted how the complex, built with local materials and labor, stands as a tribute to Chhattisgarh’s self-reliant ethos and its evolution over the past 25 years—from a newly formed state in 2000 to a thriving hub of industry, culture, and governance.

The event also saw the unveiling of a majestic statue of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee—the architect of Chhattisgarh’s statehood—and the planting of a Rudraksha sapling by PM Modi under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. Earlier in the day, development projects worth Rs 14,260 crore were announced, alongside cultural showcases and tributes to tribal freedom fighters.
