Minister attends Block-Level School Enrollment Festival, distributes bicycles and textbooks, announces upgradation of the school to Higher Secondary from next academic session

School Education Minister and Rajnandgaon District In-charge Minister Gajendra Yadav inaugurated the newly constructed Government High School building at Morkutumb village in Chhuria block on Thursday. Built at a cost of ₹75.23 lakh, the new school building was dedicated to students during the Block-Level School Enrollment Festival and Inauguration Programme.
On the occasion, the Minister distributed bicycles to newly enrolled Class IX girls under the Chief Minister Saraswati Bicycle Scheme and handed over free textbooks to students, extending his best wishes for the new academic session.
He also announced that Government High School, Morkutumb, would be upgraded to a Higher Secondary School from the next academic session.
In addition, the Minister announced the construction of an approach road to the newly built Community Health Centre in Chhuria, a primary school building in Brahmantola, a new middle school building in Ghortalab village, a hand pump and toilet in Gopalpur village, and arrangements for a teacher in Bharritola village.
Parents’ Participation Essential for Quality Education
Addressing the gathering, Gajendra Yadav said that active participation of parents is essential for improving the quality of education. He urged parents to regularly attend parent-teacher meetings, monitor their children’s attendance and academic progress, and actively contribute to their educational development.
He stated that education is not solely the responsibility of schools, but requires equal involvement from families. According to the Minister, meaningful parental engagement is crucial for achieving better learning outcomes.
Government Strengthening School Education
The Minister said the state government is continuously working to improve educational standards in government schools. As part of this effort, smart classroom facilities are being introduced in a phased manner across high schools and higher secondary schools to provide students with technology-enabled learning.
He noted that smart classrooms would also help minimise disruptions to students’ education in situations where there is a shortage of teachers. He announced that Morkutumb School would also be developed as a Smart School.
Highlighting the objectives of the National Education Policy, he said special emphasis is being placed on strengthening foundational learning, particularly in language and mathematics. The government has prepared a comprehensive action plan to improve educational quality and is providing students with free textbooks, uniforms, bicycles and other essential facilities.
He added that schools are also focusing on prayer, value education, discipline and character building to ensure the holistic development of students. Appealing to parents, he urged them to send their children to school regularly and remain actively involved in their education.
Public Representatives Emphasise Educational Excellence
Khujji MLA Bholaram Sahu described schools as institutions where students shape their future and appealed to parents to ensure regular attendance of their children.
Mayor Madhusudan Yadav said Rajnandgaon district recorded an excellent performance in this year’s board examinations and expressed confidence that coordinated efforts by students, teachers and parents would help the district achieve a 100 percent success rate in future examinations. He encouraged students to set clear goals and pursue them with dedication, discipline and hard work.
He also said the state government is effectively implementing various schemes to provide quality education and necessary educational facilities to students.
Education Is the Greatest Asset: District Panchayat Chairperson
District Panchayat Chairperson Kiran Vaishnav described the School Enrollment Festival as an inspiring milestone in the lives of children. She said both families and schools play vital roles in the all-round development of students, with parents instilling values at home and teachers shaping discipline, ethics and personality in schools.
Calling education an invaluable asset, she urged students to study with sincerity and dedication in recognition of the efforts made by their parents. She also highlighted the government’s commitment to providing quality education through free textbooks, uniforms, mid-day meals and other educational support.
Collector Highlights Academic Performance
Collector Jitendra Yadav informed the gathering that Rajnandgaon district had recorded outstanding results in the previous academic year’s board examinations. He attributed the improvement to continuous curriculum-based practice conducted throughout the academic session.
He said 89 percent of students passed the Class X board examinations, while the number of students securing First Division also increased. In Class XII, nearly 1,800 more students secured First Division compared to the previous year.
The Collector further stated that a special strategy is being prepared to strengthen coaching and guidance for competitive examinations such as NEET and JEE. He added that regular parent-teacher meetings are being organised to monitor students’ academic progress.
The programme was attended by Janpad Panchayat President Sanjay Sinha, Chhuria Nagar Panchayat President Ajay Patel, Rajgami Sampada Nyas Chairperson Purnima Sahu, District Panchayat Vice-Chairperson Kiran Sahu, District Panchayat Member Biram Bai Mandavi, Janpad Panchayat Vice-President Prashant Thakur, Komal Singh Rajput, M.D. Thakur, Radhika Chandravanshi, Bishakha Bai, SDM Shrikant Koram, District Education Officer Pravas Singh Baghel, along with public representatives, teachers, villagers and students.
