Roads in Ruins from Singhola to Khursipar: Daily ‘Test of Endurance’ for Villagers

Major routes across Rajnandgaon–Dongargaon belt in disrepair; residents demand urgent repairs and dust-control measures

Villagers travelling from Singhola to Khursipar via Karamtara, Chuikhadan and Sonesarar are facing extreme difficulty as the main connecting road has deteriorated beyond measure. Long deprived of repairs, the stretch is dotted with deep potholes, making daily travel both stressful and unsafe. During the rainy season, slush and slipperiness made the road nearly impassable, and now in the dry months, clouds of dust have become a constant source of misery.

Residents say that despite raising the demand for road repairs for years, no concrete action has been taken by concerned departments or elected representatives. Students commuting to schools and colleges, office-goers, youth and women continue to travel this risky route every day.

Roads in Ruins from Singhola to Khursipar: Daily ‘Test of Endurance’ for Villagers Amli Dih Industrial Area

Rajnandgaon–Dongargaon Main Road Also in Dismal Shape

The Rajnandgaon–Dongargaon highway has also reached a dangerous state due to prolonged neglect. Near Arjuni, large and deep potholes force vehicles to move at great risk, raising fears of accidents. Dust kicked up by heavy vehicles has worsened the situation for local traders, shopkeepers and commuters. Increasing dust-related health complaints—eye irritation, respiratory trouble and throat issues—highlight the gravity of the problem. Yet, there has been no visible action toward repairs.

Dust Crisis in Amli Dih Industrial Area

The industrial belt in Amli Dih is battling a severe dust crisis. Heavy trucks parked on both sides of the road and frequent traffic jams generate thick clouds of dust that engulf the locality. Despite being a major industrial zone, the absence of proper road maintenance and dust-control mechanisms has left residents frustrated. Locals allege that the negligence of public representatives and unregulated parking of trucks belonging to big industrial houses have worsened the situation.

People in the area complain that prolonged dust exposure is harming their health and affecting local business activities, yet the problem remains unaddressed.

Demand for Immediate Repair and Dust-Control Measures

Residents and traders have collectively urged the administration to:

  • Undertake urgent repairs of all damaged roads,
  • Implement regular water sprinkling in industrial areas,
  • Restrict parking of heavy vehicles on busy stretches, and
  • Enforce strict dust-control measures to safeguard public health.

Locals insist that relief from these daily hardships must be treated as a priority by the administration and warn that further delay is becoming increasingly intolerable.
