Injured victims of road accidents in Rajnandgaon district are receiving immediate and cashless medical treatment under the Government of India’s PM-Rahat (Prime Minister Road Accident Victim Hospitalization and Assured Treatment) Scheme.

The scheme ensures that accident victims are admitted to hospitals without delay during the Golden Hour — the crucial period immediately after an accident — enabling timely medical intervention and improved survival chances.

Cashless Treatment Facility up to ₹1.5 Lakh

Under the PM-Rahat scheme, road accident victims are provided cashless treatment for up to seven days, with medical expenses covered up to ₹1.5 lakh per person. The treatment facility is available free of cost at all registered government and private hospitals across the district.

The district administration has been implementing the scheme effectively to ensure quick medical response and accessible healthcare services for accident victims.

Treatment Provided to 12 Accident Victims

As part of the scheme’s implementation, 12 road accident victims were registered and treated under the programme. Out of them, 10 patients received treatment at Bharat Ratna Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee Memorial Government Medical College Rajnandgaon, while two patients were treated at Sanjeevani Nursing Home Chikhli Rajnandgaon.

Patients treated at the government medical college included Minesh Kumar Kosare (Pachpedi, Rajnandgaon), Shatrughan Patel (Badhiatola, Dongargarh), Rajesh Kumar Sahu (Gudapara, Balod), Chowaram Yadav (Bawli, Chhuria), Bhupendra Kumar Sahu (Medha, Dongargarh), Shiva Pardhi (Kaviraj Tolagaon, Rajnandgaon), Jitendra Thakur (Kuvagaon, Balod), Doman Das Sahu (Keshla, Dongargaon), Trilok Giri Goswami (Tatibandh, Raipur), and Panchram Yadav (Kaudikasa, Ambagarh Chowki).

Sunita Yadav (Bori, Rajnandgaon) and Ranjita Padouti (Arsitola, Chhuria) received treatment at Sanjeevani Nursing Home, Chikhli.

Objective: Timely and Quality Medical Care

Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Netram Navratan stated that the primary objective of the PM-Rahat scheme is to ensure timely and quality treatment for road accident victims. Immediate medical care during the initial phase after an accident significantly increases survival chances.

He emphasized that the scheme focuses particularly on providing rapid treatment during the Golden Hour to prevent loss of life.

Extensive Training for Hospitals

For effective implementation, training and necessary guidance have been provided to administrators and operators of all 34 government hospitals in the district — including Government Medical College Pendri Rajnandgaon, District Hospital Basantpur, Community Health Centres at Dongargaon, Chhuria, Dongargarh, Ghumka, Somni, and all Primary Health Centres — along with 38 private hospitals.

Citizens seeking detailed information about the PM-Rahat scheme can contact their nearest health facility or the Office of the Chief Medical and Health Officer, Rajnandgaon.
