Collector Jitendra Yadav has directed all concerned officials to complete preparations for the upcoming paddy procurement season within the next seven days, stressing that timely arrangements are essential to ensure a smooth process and prevent inconvenience to farmers.
He issued the directions during the weekly time-limit review meeting held at the Collectorate, where he reviewed the progress of departmental activities and priority government schemes.
Seven-Day Deadline for Paddy Procurement Arrangements
The Collector said the next seven days would be extremely important for preparations and instructed officials to work with special alertness and responsibility. He directed all Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), Tehsildars and Chief Executive Officers of Janpad Panchayats to coordinate with one another and regularly monitor the arrangements.
He also instructed officials to carefully verify farmers’ documents and other required information during special Gram Sabhas organised in connection with paddy procurement.
Farmers who faced difficulties while selling paddy last year should be contacted in advance, and their problems resolved before procurement begins. The Collector asked officials to share details of such farmers with the concerned SDMs and Tehsildars.
He emphasised that the convenience of farmers at procurement centres must remain the highest priority and that all necessary arrangements should be completed before procurement starts.
Strict Monitoring of Illegal Paddy Transportation
The Collector directed officials to strengthen surveillance in border areas to prevent illegal transportation of paddy. Special vigilance was ordered in areas adjoining the Maharashtra border, where the possibility of unauthorised paddy movement requires close monitoring.
He also instructed officials to install AI-based modern cameras at suitable locations to strengthen surveillance.
All SDMs and Tehsildars were directed to conduct intensive inspections of rice mills and make it mandatory to check their weighbridges. Officials must verify the accuracy of weighing equipment and take action in accordance with the rules wherever necessary. The Collector stressed that inspections must be conducted transparently and impartially.
Digital Crop Survey and Promotion of Alternative Rabi Crops
Reviewing the progress of the Digital Crop Survey, Yadav directed officials to ensure early payment of pending dues to all surveyors engaged in the work.
He also asked officials to encourage farmers to consider alternative crops requiring less water instead of paddy during the Rabi season after the Kharif harvest.
