Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) District President Komal Singh Rajput has strongly condemned the Congress for burning an effigy of senior BJP leader Khubchand Parakh over his statement during a recent political programme. Rajput described the protest as a reflection of what he called the Congress’s poor political mindset.
Rajput said Parakh had inadvertently misspoken while raising slogans during the BJP’s ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ campaign march. According to him, the senior leader accidentally said ‘Remove’ instead of ‘Save’ while raising the slogan. He termed the incident a normal human error that can occur when someone speaks in public.
Rajput Questions Congress’s Response
Rajput referred to statements made by senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying that his remarks and alleged linguistic and factual errors have also frequently been discussed on social media.
He said the BJP had never resorted to effigy-burning protests over such mistakes by political leaders and had treated them as ordinary human errors. He added that discussing or making light of a statement on social media was different from burning an effigy over an inadvertent verbal slip.
BJP Says Campaign Will Continue
The BJP district president alleged that the Congress had no substantial issues related to public welfare and development to raise, and was therefore turning a minor verbal mistake into a political controversy.
He said focusing on individual words and organising an effigy-burning protest was unnecessary and, in his view, was causing embarrassment to the Congress itself.
Rajput asserted that the BJP’s ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ campaign would continue with its stated objectives. He added that such protests by the Congress would not affect the morale of BJP workers.
