The award was presented by Shripad Yesso Naik during a grand ceremony held at the India Habitat Centre on Lodhi Road.
At the event organized by the Ministry of Power, Verma was selected among outstanding linemen from across the country for his exemplary service, technical expertise, and unwavering commitment to ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply in challenging geographical conditions. During the ceremony, the Union Minister presented him with a citation, shawl, and traditional coconut as a mark of honour.

A key factor behind Verma receiving the national recognition was his remarkable contribution to the implementation of the central government’s ambitious rooftop solar initiative, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Under the scheme, he played an important role in facilitating a record number of solar power connections in his service area, significantly supporting the promotion of renewable energy at the grassroots level.
