In a moment of pride for Chhattisgarh, Ishwari Lal Verma, a lineman posted at the Musrakala Distribution Centre in Rajnandgaon district, has been honoured with the prestigious “Best Lineman” award at the national level. The award was presented by Shripad Yesso Naik during a grand ceremony held at the India Habitat Centre on Lodhi Road.

At the event organized by the Ministry of Power, Verma was selected among outstanding linemen from across the country for his exemplary service, technical expertise, and unwavering commitment to ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply in challenging geographical conditions. During the ceremony, the Union Minister presented him with a citation, shawl, and traditional coconut as a mark of honour.

Ishwari Lal Verma currently serves as a lineman at the Musrakala Distribution Centre under the Dongargarh division. His work has been widely appreciated for maintaining reliable power supply in rural and difficult terrain while strictly adhering to safety standards and operational efficiency.

A key factor behind Verma receiving the national recognition was his remarkable contribution to the implementation of the central government’s ambitious rooftop solar initiative, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Under the scheme, he played an important role in facilitating a record number of solar power connections in his service area, significantly supporting the promotion of renewable energy at the grassroots level.

Departmental Leadership Congratulates

The achievement has been widely celebrated within the power department. Dr. Rohit Yadav, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Power Companies, and Bheemsingh Kanwar, Managing Director of the Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company, congratulated Verma on his historic achievement.

They stated that receiving such recognition at the national platform reflects the quality of electricity services in Chhattisgarh and the dedication of its workforce. According to them, the honour is not only a personal achievement for Ishwari Lal Verma but also a milestone that will inspire and boost the morale of thousands of electricity workers across the state.

Senior officials from the Rajnandgaon region also extended their best wishes. Shirish Selat and Shankeshwar Kanwar praised Verma’s outstanding work and commitment.

They noted that earning national recognition while serving in a rural distribution centre like Musrakala is a matter of great pride for the region. Verma’s dedication, they said, demonstrates how committed grassroots-level workers play a vital role in strengthening the country’s energy infrastructure.

The award has brought immense pride not only to the Rajnandgaon district but also to the entire state of Chhattisgarh, highlighting the important contribution of frontline electricity workers in powering the nation’s development.
