Citizens donate 56 units of blood; extensive health check-ups and awareness activities organised across district

On the occasion of World Red Cross Day, a blood donation camp, general health camp, and special cancer screening camp for women were organised in Rajnandgaon district. The initiative witnessed active public participation, with citizens collectively donating 56 units of blood at various blood banks across the district.
56 Units of Blood Collected Across Blood Banks
The blood donation camp held at district blood banks recorded significant participation from voluntary donors. A total of 56 units of blood were collected, including 17 units at the Medical College Blood Bank, 13 units at the District Hospital Blood Bank, 13 units at Nandgaon Blood Bank, 5 units at Balaji Blood Bank, 3 units at Bilasa Blood Bank, and 5 units at Life Line Blood Bank.

Health Camps Organised at Multiple Levels
Along with the blood donation initiative, health camps were conducted at the District Hospital, Medical College Hospital, and Community Health Centres (CHCs) at the block level. Various health screenings were carried out during the camps, including tests for sickle cell disease, thalassemia, anaemia (blood deficiency), blood pressure, and diabetes.
Medical experts also provided consultations to women regarding general health concerns and reproductive health issues.
Special Cancer Screening for Women
A dedicated cancer screening camp for women was organised at the district level, where preliminary examinations for breast cancer and cervical cancer were conducted as part of early detection and awareness efforts.
Red Cross Services Highlighted
Chief Medical and Health Officer and Secretary of Indian Red Cross Society Rajnandgaon, Dr. Netram Navratan, shared information about the humanitarian services being provided by the Indian Red Cross Society. He informed that the society received recognition during the Spanish Flu pandemic period of 1918–1920. On the occasion, he also remembered Red Cross founder Henry Dunant.

Donors Encouraged and Honoured
Red Cross Co-Secretaries Shri Sushil Jain and Shri Hemant Tiwari encouraged blood donors and motivated citizens towards social service activities. Registrar of Digvijay College, Shri Paghaniya, donated blood for the 26th time on Red Cross Day and was honoured with a certificate of appreciation.
Manager-cum-District Organiser Shri Pradeep Sharma provided information about the blood donation camp and the functioning of blood banks during the programme. The event was attended by Shri Uttam Chand Jain, Shri Rajesh Jain, Parampara Group representative Shri Divyanshu Golcha, Shri Manoj Singh, office bearers of the Red Cross Society, members, volunteers, officials, and staff.
