Speaker Inaugurates New Cow Shelter Complex, Lays Foundation for Veterinary and Fodder Facilities; Announces ₹75 Lakh for Gaushala Development

Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh on Thursday inaugurated the newly constructed Gau Chhaya Complex and laid the foundation stone for the Veterinary Complex and Cattle Fodder Complex at Shri Gaushala Pinjrapole, Rajnandgaon.
Addressing the programme as the chief guest, Dr Raman Singh announced ₹75 lakh from the state government for the further development of the Gaushala.
The programme was presided over by Agriculture Development and Animal Husbandry Minister Ramvichar Netam. Mayor Madhusudan Yadav and Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Gau Seva Commission Visheshar Singh Patel attended as special guests.
‘A Sacred Centre of Service and Public Participation’
Dr Raman Singh said Rajnandgaon is known as Sanskardhani because significant events in the city have often led to landmark initiatives for the protection and promotion of cow welfare.
Recalling the institution’s history, he said that following a tragic incident in 1904, Late Ramlal Chopra resolved to establish the Gaushala with the support of society. He said the institution’s 122-year journey has become an inspiring example of public service, cattle conservation, and community participation.
Describing Shri Gaushala Pinjrapole as more than just a shelter for cattle, he called it “a sacred place of pilgrimage” where faith and service come together. He also acknowledged the contributions of donors who had provided land, financial assistance, and other resources for the Gaushala’s growth.
According to the Assembly Speaker, public support has helped the institution emerge as one of the strongest and most prosperous Gaushalas in Chhattisgarh.
He appealed to citizens to participate regularly in cow welfare activities, urging every family to contribute according to its capacity towards cattle conservation.
Minister Highlights State’s Commitment to Cow Welfare
Agriculture Development and Animal Husbandry Minister Ramvichar Netam said institutions with such a rich tradition and a 122-year history are rarely found.
He praised the strong community participation, support from donors, and public commitment to cow welfare, describing the Gaushala as an exemplary model.
Referring to the Gaudham Yojana, the minister said the state government is continuously working to strengthen cattle protection and welfare initiatives.
He also appreciated the veterinary treatment facilities, animal care services, surgical arrangements, and the proposed modern veterinary infrastructure at the Gaushala, saying the model could serve as an inspiration for other parts of the state.
Netam invited the Gaushala management to submit proposals for expanding facilities, assuring that they would receive positive consideration at the government level.
He further instructed officials of the Animal Husbandry Department to ensure the regular deployment of veterinarians and veterinary support staff at the Gaushala so that cattle receive timely medical treatment and healthcare services.
Public Representatives and Donors Extend Support
The programme was also addressed by Chhattisgarh State Gau Seva Commission Chairman Visheshar Singh Patel and Mayor Madhusudan Yadav.
Earlier, Shri Gaushala Pinjrapole Committee President Khoobchand Parakh welcomed the guests and gave a detailed presentation on the Gaushala’s history and activities.
Several philanthropists and donors announced financial contributions for the development and expansion of the Gaushala during the programme.
The dignitaries appreciated the efforts of individuals and organisations associated with cow welfare and described cattle conservation as a shared social responsibility.
Among those present were District Cooperative Central Bank Chairman Sachin Baghel, Rajgami Sampada Nyas Chairperson Purnima Sahu, Komal Singh Rajput, Santosh Agrawal, M.D. Thakur, office-bearers of the Shri Gaushala Pinjrapole Committee, public representatives, representatives of social organisations, donors, and a large number of citizens.
