Rajnandgaon has emerged as the first district in the state to initiate procurement of soybean at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) under the Price Support Scheme. Under the Prime Minister Annadata Income Protection Campaign, the state government has issued a notification for MSP-based procurement of kharif crops including soybean, pigeon pea (arhar), black gram (urad), and green gram (moong).

As per the notification, several cooperative societies across the state have been designated as procurement centres. In Rajnandgaon district, 15 such procurement centres have been identified, along with Swarn Upaj Multi-purpose Farmer Producer Organisation, Sukuldaihan, which has also been notified as an authorised procurement centre.

The state government, through the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED), has started procurement of kharif pulses and oilseeds at declared support prices. The MSP has been fixed at ₹5,328 per quintal for soybean, ₹8,768 for moong, ₹7,800 for urad, and ₹8,000 per quintal for arhar. Procurement limits have also been prescribed, allowing up to 5 quintals of soybean per acre and 3 quintals per acre for urad, arhar, and moong.

So far, Rajnandgaon is the only district in the state to operationalise the Price Support Scheme. Under this initiative, 5 quintals of soybean have been procured from farmers Hemant Kumar Nayak and Vinod Verma at the Swarn Upaj procurement centre in Sukuldaihan, amounting to a total value of ₹26,640. In the coming days, procurement of larger quantities of arhar, moong, urad, and soybean from farmers across the district is expected.

Deputy Director of Agriculture, Tikam Singh Thakur, informed that NAFED is conducting online procurement through the Samriddhi Portal, which is linked to the Integrated Farmer Portal. This digital system ensures that farmers receive the MSP amount directly into their bank accounts. He added that in the coming years, the scheme is expected to play a significant role in expanding the area under pulses and oilseeds cultivation in the district.
