Rajnandgaon Administration Seizes 215.60 Quintals of Illegal Paddy in One Day; 123 Cases Registered So Far This Season

Crackdown Intensifies as 7 Vehicles and Over 15,673 Quintals of Illegal Paddy Valued at ₹4.85 Crore Confiscated in Kharif Marketing Year 2025–26

The Rajnandgaon district administration has intensified its crackdown on illegal paddy trading in the ongoing Kharif Marketing Year 2025–26, with Collector Jitendra Yadav directing strict action against middlemen and unauthorized traders. Officials have warned that repeat offenders involved in illegal paddy transactions may soon face criminal cases.

In a major action today, a joint team of the Revenue, Food, and Mandi Departments seized 215.60 quintals (539 bags) of illegal paddy worth ₹6,68,360, across five cases in the district.

123 Cases Registered So Far This Season

With today’s action, the district has so far recorded:

  • 123 cases of illegal paddy trade
  • 15,673.46 quintals (39,184 bags) of illegal paddy seized
  • Total market value: ₹4,85,87,726
  • 7 vehicles confiscated to date

    • 3 cases
    • 185.60 quintals (464 bags) seized
    • Worth ₹5,75,360
  • Dongargaon Subdivision:
    • 2 cases
    • 30 quintals (75 bags) seized
    • Worth ₹93,000

    • 8,920.80 quintals (22,302 bags)
    • ₹2,76,54,480 value
    • 2 vehicles seized
  • Dongargarh Subdivision:
    • 36 cases
    • 3,092.86 quintals (7,732 bags)
    • ₹95,87,866 value
    • 2 vehicles seized
  • Dongargaon Subdivision:
    • 38 cases
    • 3,659.80 quintals (9,150 bags)
    • ₹1,13,45,380 value
    • 3 vehicles confiscated

District on High Alert: 1,500 Traders Under Watch

Authorities have listed 1,500 licensed mandi traders, directing SDMs, Tehsildars, Food Department and Mandi Board officials to conduct thorough inspections and seize unlawfully stocked paddy.

To curb inter-state illegal inflow, the district has set up three interstate checkposts at:

  • Bortalab
  • Patekohra
  • Kallubanjari

These are manned round-the-clock in three shifts, involving officers from the Mandi Board, Home Guard, Forest, and Revenue Departments.

The administration maintains that actions against middlemen and illegal operators will continue with zero tolerance to ensure transparent and lawful paddy procurement in the district.
