Location: Rajnandgaon, India

Describing the state budget as progressive, balanced and future-focused, Rajnandgaon Mayor and former MP Madhusudan Yadav said the financial roadmap laid out by the Government of Chhattisgarh reinforces the vision of a “Viksit Chhattisgarh” built on strong fundamentals of education, healthcare and infrastructure.

Welcoming the budget presented under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Finance Minister O. P. Choudhary, Yadav said it strikes a fine balance between fiscal discipline and growth acceleration. “The true benchmark of progress for any nation, state or district lies in the strength of its education and healthcare systems. This budget delivers on both fronts while simultaneously expanding local employment opportunities,” he noted.

He emphasized that the budget’s overarching ‘Sankalp’ theme reflects a commitment to inclusive and regionally balanced development. According to him, the focus on infrastructure expansion, creating an investment-friendly ecosystem, skill development, and prioritising the last person in the socio-economic ladder (Antyodaya) demonstrates a policy shift toward outcome-driven governance.

Major Irrigation Push for Rajnandgaon
Highlighting district-specific allocations, Yadav said Rajnandgaon has received significant provisions aimed at strengthening drinking water and irrigation infrastructure. Among the key announcements:
₹5 crore for a drinking water pipeline project from Chauki Anicut to Mohara Anicut
₹4.5 crore for increasing the storage capacity of Mohara Anicut
₹5 crore for a stop dam on the Shivnath river at Bockal
₹5 crore for the Parrikala Anicut-cum-causeway project
₹5 crore each for riverbank protection works at Bharregaon and Dhamansara

In total, ₹254.50 crore has been earmarked for Rajnandgaon district to ensure sustainable water availability for irrigation and drinking purposes. “These investments will significantly strengthen the rural economy and agricultural productivity in the region,” Yadav said.

Focus on Bastar, Tribal Empowerment and Human Capital
The Mayor also underscored the government’s targeted push in Bastar and other tribal-dominated regions. With a stated commitment to eliminate Left-Wing Extremism and accelerate development, the budget includes enhanced allocations for tourism, medical education, irrigation and skill-based employment in the region.

Key highlights include:
Increase in allocation for Bastar and Surguja Development Authorities from ₹50 crore to ₹75 crore
Establishment of medical colleges in tribal-majority areas such as Manendragarh and Dantewada
Expansion of irrigation facilities across 32,000 hectares in Bastar
Promotion of homestay tourism initiatives

“These measures will open avenues for tribal youth to showcase their talent not only at the state level but nationally,” Yadav remarked.

Urban Development and Industrial Expansion
The Mayor described provisions for the Chief Minister Adarsh Shehar Samriddhi Yojana, Mukhyamantri Drutgami Sadak Sampark Yojana, Swami Vivekananda Utkrisht Shala Yojana, development of 23 new industrial parks, the Sirpur Development Plan, a cashless medical facility scheme for government employees, and the Land Bank Development Scheme as transformative steps toward structured and sustainable growth.

He said the combination of infrastructure development, industrial expansion and social sector investment would stimulate economic activity while maintaining fiscal prudence.
Concluding his remarks, Madhusudan Yadav expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Finance Minister O. P. Choudhary, stating that the budget “not only strengthens the resolve for a developed Chhattisgarh but also lays a robust foundation for a prosperous and empowered future.”
