Directs Field Officers to Promote Solar Plant Installation under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

Secretary of the Energy Department and Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Power Companies, Dr. Rohit Yadav, conducted a review meeting with field officers of Rajnandgaon, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, and Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki districts during his one-day visit. The meeting, held at the Collectorate conference hall, focused on the progress of departmental works and welfare schemes.
The session was attended by Collector Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, Managing Director (Distribution) Bhim Singh Kanwar, CEO Zila Panchayat Suruchi Singh, ED O&M J.S. Netam, ED Rajnandgaon Shirish Selat, CE (Project) M. Jamulkar, Additional CE Mangal Tirkey, SE Rajnandgaon Division Shankeshwar Kanwar, along with all Executive Engineers and Assistant Engineers of the three districts.
Dr. Yadav emphasized timely completion of electricity development works and strengthening uninterrupted power supply. He directed all officers and employees to install rooftop solar plants at their homes under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and inspire citizens through awareness campaigns. “Every family must be informed about the subsidies provided by the Central and State governments and the benefits of zero electricity bills, encouraging them to become energy producers rather than mere consumers,” he said.

Highlighting the importance of pollution-free, free, and continuous electricity, Dr. Yadav stressed that widespread rooftop solar adoption would make households energy self-reliant and reduce monthly expenses. He further called for better coordination among field staff to avoid delays and minimize accidents during power maintenance.
Collector Dr. Bhure informed that progress under the scheme is being closely monitored, with instructions to meet the set targets. He assured that no hurdles will be allowed in solar plant installations, and the goals will be achieved on time.
Managing Director (Distribution) Bhim Singh Kanwar directed speedy completion of Feeder Separation works under the RDDS scheme for agricultural pump connections and asked for early installation of smart meters in government, domestic, and non-domestic categories.

ED Shirish Selat instructed strict monitoring of revenue recovery and reduction of line losses, ensuring uninterrupted consumer services. He reiterated that every officer should actively participate in the awareness campaign of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana by setting an example through installation of rooftop solar plants at their own homes.
