Police Crack Down on Liquor Mafia in Dongargarh, Four Bootleggers Arrested

Over 18 litres of illicit liquor and three two-wheelers seized in coordinated single-day operation

Dongargarh Police intensified their action against the illegal liquor trade and carried out a major crackdown in the region, arresting four bootleggers in multiple raids conducted within a single day. The operation led to the seizure of more than 18 litres of illicit liquor along with three two-wheelers used for illegal transportation.

Acting on the directions of Superintendent of Police Ms Ankita Sharma (IPS), under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Mr Pushpendra Nayak and supervision of SDOP Dongargarh Mr Keshari Nandan Nayak, the district police has been running a sustained अभियान against unlawful activities. As part of this drive, a police team led by Dongargarh Police Station In-charge Inspector Santosh Jaiswal carried out intensive checking and raids based on credible intelligence inputs.

Three Cases, One Clear Message: Illegal Liquor Will Not Be Tolerated

In Case No. 37/2026, police intercepted two accused—Monu Nirmalkar and Manish Sahu—near Bhainsra Mod on the Katli–Kalakasa Road, in front of a high school. From their possession, 29 quarters of country-made spiced liquor (5.220 bulk litres) and a Hero Honda motorcycle without a registration number were seized. The total seizure in this case was valued at approximately ₹52,900.

In Case No. 38/2026, police arrested Prakash God near Khamtarai Pathra Tola Mod. The accused was found in possession of 12 quarters of country-made plain liquor, 20 quarters of “Sholay” country-made spiced liquor, and a motorcycle bearing registration number CG 08 AJ 0380. The total value of seized items was estimated at ₹32,960.

In Case No. 39/2026, police apprehended Hemlal Tandon near a brick kiln on the Medha–Patpar Road. The accused was carrying 40 quarters of country-made plain liquor (7.200 bulk litres) and a scooty bearing registration number CG 08 BE 3315. The total seizure in this case was valued at ₹83,200.

Altogether, police seized 81 quarters of country-made “Romeo” liquor and 20 quarters of “Sholay” country-made spiced liquor, amounting to 18.180 bulk litres, along with three two-wheelers.

All the accused were booked under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act, arrested and produced before the court, from where they were sent to judicial custody.

Police Issue Stern Warning

Dongargarh Police stated that illegal sale, transportation and smuggling of liquor will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Such enforcement drives will continue with full force to dismantle the liquor mafia operating in the region.

The operation was successfully carried out by the Dongargarh police team led by Inspector Santosh Kumar Jaiswal, with key contributions from Sub-Inspector Rohit Khunte, Assistant Sub-Inspector Anil Gahine and other police personnel.

The simultaneous actions clearly signal that police have stepped up their offensive against illegal liquor networks in Dongargarh.
