Timely and effective disposal of applications received during Jan Darshan is being ensured under the directions of Collector Jitendra Yadav to provide prompt relief to citizens. In one such case, a young girl from Rajnandgaon district received benefits under the Nonni Suraksha Yojana, securing her future through a government welfare initiative.

Application Submitted During Jan Darshan

Rahul Kumar Das, a resident of Tulsipur Ward No. 17 in Rajnandgaon city, submitted an application during the Collector’s Jan Darshan seeking benefits under the Women and Child Development Department’s Nonni Suraksha Yojana for his daughter Navya Vaishnav.

Taking immediate cognizance of the application, the Collector directed officials of the Women and Child Development Department to verify the documents and extend scheme benefits upon confirmation of eligibility.

Swift Verification and Online Registration

Following the Collector’s instructions, departmental officials examined the submitted documents and applications. After the beneficiary was found eligible as per scheme guidelines, officials promptly contacted the parents and registered the application on the online portal.

The parents were also provided with the registration number and certificate generated through the portal. Expressing happiness over receiving the scheme’s benefits, the family thanked the administration and government for securing their daughter’s future.

Welfare Scheme for Girl Child Development

District Programme Officer of Women and Child Development Department, Gurpreet Kaur, informed that the Nonni Suraksha Yojana is a welfare initiative aimed at supporting girls belonging to families living below the poverty line.

Under the scheme, for girls born on or after April 1, 2014, the government deposits ₹5,000 annually for five years—amounting to ₹25,000—in an LIC account in the girl child’s name. Upon attaining 18 years of age and passing Class 12, the beneficiary receives a maturity amount of ₹1 lakh.

The primary objectives of the scheme include preventing female foeticide, discouraging child marriage, and promoting education and health among girls.

Detailed information about the scheme can be obtained from local Anganwadi centres, offices of the Women and Child Development Department, or the department’s official website.
