Stolen gold and silver ornaments, ₹18,000 in cash, and sharp-edged weapon recovered; accused produced before court and sent to judicial remand

Dongargaon Police have solved a burglary case involving a vacant house in Rajakhujji village, arresting two accused and apprehending a juvenile in conflict with the law. Stolen gold and silver ornaments, ₹18,000 in cash, and a sharp-edged weapon allegedly used in the crime were recovered from their possession. According to police, the accused have previously been booked in theft-related cases.
Police said that Rupendra Kumar Sahu, a resident of Khujji village, lodged a complaint on June 10, 2026, stating that unidentified persons had broken the lock of his house while the family was away and stolen gold and silver ornaments worth approximately ₹1.95 lakh from an almirah. Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Dongargaon Police Station and an investigation was initiated.
During the investigation, police sought assistance from the dog squad, cyber cell, and forensic team. Based on CCTV footage, intelligence inputs, and other technical evidence, police detained Jageshar Markam (40) of Bodhitola, Deep Singh Markam alias Musuwa (20) of Dongargaon, along with a juvenile in conflict with the law for questioning. During interrogation, all three allegedly confessed to their involvement in the burglary.
According to police, the accused targeted the unoccupied house, broke open the main lock, forced open the almirah, and stole gold and silver ornaments along with cash before later dividing the stolen property among themselves.

Police recovered two gold-plated mangalsutras, three silver coins, silver idols of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi, five pairs of silver toe rings, one pair of silver anklets, and ₹18,000 in cash from the possession of the accused. A sharp-edged knife allegedly used during the commission of the offence was also seized.
Police registered offences against the accused under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. They were produced before the court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
Police further stated that the juvenile in conflict with the law had previously been booked in earlier cases. Based on this, additional provisions relating to organised crime and criminal conspiracy have also been invoked in the case.
Dongargaon Police said surveillance measures are being further strengthened to prevent burglaries targeting vacant houses in the area.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of Station House Officer Inspector Ashirwad Rahatgaonkar, with the assistance of Assistant Sub-Inspector Devkumar Rawte, Head Constable Sandeep Deshmukh, Constable Hemant Suryavanshi, Cyber Cell Sub-Inspector Naresh Banjare, and Constable Parivesh Verma.
