Daily hearings of nearly 700 cases underway in Rajnandgaon; final electoral roll to be published on February 21, 2026

A meeting of recognised political party representatives regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls with January 1, 2026 as the qualifying date was held at the Collectorate conference hall in the presence of Durg Division Commissioner and Roll Observer Satyanarayan Rathore. Collector and District Election Officer Jitendra Yadav was also present.
Addressing the meeting, Commissioner Rathore stressed that no eligible voter should be excluded during the revision process. He said hearings and verification are being conducted strictly as per prescribed procedures, with the hearing and verification (notice stage) scheduled from December 23, 2025 to February 14, 2026. He assured that applications would be disposed of only after due verification by Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and reiterated that no voter’s name would be deleted without prior notice. The final publication of the electoral roll is scheduled for February 21, 2026, with appeal provisions also available.
Collector and District Election Officer Jitendra Yadav informed that the draft electoral roll was published on December 23, 2025, completing the first phase of the revision. In the second phase, citizens whose names were left out will be able to get them included after hearings. He added that, as per directions of the Election Commission of India and the Supreme Court, applications categorised under “logical errors” are being resolved after verification through Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and AEROs.
Yadav stated that across four Assembly constituencies—Dongargarh (74), Rajnandgaon (75), Dongargaon (76) and Khujji (77)—a total of 7,80,205 voters are registered across 1,075 polling stations. This includes 3,90,728 male voters, 3,89,472 female voters and five voters in the “other” category.

He further noted that nearly 700 claim and objection cases are being heard daily in the district. Citizens whose names were not mapped in 2003 may also apply with valid documents. Logical error cases can be resolved after document submission to BLOs and subsequent verification. The hearing window will remain open until February 14, 2026, and all applications will be decided following constitutional procedures.
District officials also advised eligible citizens to update their voter records in cases of marriage or migration. Applicants may use Form 6 for new voter registration, Form 6A for overseas voters, Form 7 for objections to deletion, and Form 8 for correction of entries, change of residence, EPIC updates or marking PwD status.
Deputy District Election Officer Prakash Tandon informed that citizens can check their names in the draft voter list through BLOs, the ECI mobile app, or voters.eci.gov.in. He added that approximately 78 per cent of applications related to logical errors and no-mapping issues have already been resolved, while hearings for the remaining 22 per cent are ongoing.
The meeting was attended by Khujji MLA Bholaram Sahu, BJP representatives Komal Singh Rajput, Moolchand Lodhi, Daduram Sonkar, Raghuveer Singh Wadhwa and Arun Shukla, along with Congress leaders Vipin Yadav, Kamaljeet Pintoo, Rupesh Dubey and representatives of other political parties.
