Municipal Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma conducted an early morning inspection of sanitation and water supply arrangements in Indira Nagar and Basantpur on Thursday, issuing strict directions to improve cleanliness, streamline services, and remove encroachments from roads and public spaces.
During the visit, the Commissioner reviewed cleanliness efforts and instructed sanitation staff to adhere to their designated work hours. He interacted with the valve men at the Indira Nagar water tank and sought detailed information on water supply routes. He directed them to inspect pipeline lines after opening the valves and immediately report any leakage issues to the concerned technical officials for timely repair. He also ordered proper refilling of trenches dug near Mahesh Nagar Chowk after pipeline repairs.

In Basantpur, Commissioner Vishwakarma inspected the cleanliness around the public toilet near Club Chowk. Noticing dirt on the premises and debris around the structure, he instructed the caretaker to clean the area, remove all waste, undertake necessary painting, and display cleanliness messages. He also directed repairs of the urinals and emphasized maintaining hygiene and smooth operation of the facility.
Reviewing street and lane sanitation, he instructed workers to ensure daily garbage collection within the scheduled time. Interacting with residents, he appealed to them not to dump household waste into drains, but instead hand it over to Swachhata Didis. He urged public cooperation in keeping their wards clean and attractive.

At Basantpur Club Chowk, near the Hanuman Temple, the Commissioner noticed materials kept on the road by a rental store. He ordered the ward in-charge to have them removed immediately to ensure proper sanitation. He instructed officials to clear such items from roads and lanes without delay and impose fines if they are not voluntarily removed. Similarly, construction material and debris found near Khan Nursing Home were ordered to be cleared, with penalties to be imposed on the responsible persons.
He directed the enforcement team to strictly act under the “Malma Mandap” provisions for construction waste found on streets or junctions. He further instructed officials to remove encroachments across the city, advising individuals to comply or face penalties.
