Procession to begin from Motipur’s Ganeshpara; Mayor Madhusudan Yadav, Tourism Board Chairman Neelu Sharma and Corporation President Paras Topendra Verma to participate

In the holy month of Shravan (Sawan), Mahakal Sena Rajnandgaon, along with Shiva devotees of the city, will organise the grand Sawan Palki Yatra of Baba Shri Mahakal (Chandramauleshwar form) on Thursday, August 6.
The procession will commence at 2:00 pm from Ganeshpara in Motipur Ward and conclude at Tulsipur Sangam Chowk after passing through several prominent routes of the city.

According to the organising committee, the palanquin of Lord Mahakal will be decorated in an attractive and divine manner. The procession will feature depictions of Lord Shiva’s family, Shiva Ganas and various religious tableaux, which are expected to be the main attractions for devotees.
Throughout the route, devotees will welcome the procession with bhajans, kirtans, chants of “Har Har Mahadev”, and floral showers.
Ribhay Yadav of the Mahakal Sena said the procession will pass through Ganeshpara, Azad Chowk, Navagaon Shiv Temple, Subhash Club, Sheetalapara, Railway Underbridge, Mamtanagar, Thakur Gulab Singh Marg and Labour Colony before reaching Tulsipur Sangam Chowk. Enthusiasm for the event has been witnessed across the areas falling along the procession route.
The event will be attended by Mayor Madhusudan Yadav, Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Chairman Neelu Sharma, Municipal Corporation President Paras Topendra Verma, along with several public representatives, councillors and devotees of Lord Mahakal.
The organising committee stated that various wards, social organisations and religious groups will welcome the palanquin along the route through rituals, worship and distribution of prasad. Special religious and cultural programmes have also been planned for devotees.

The committee has appealed to Shiva devotees from Rajnandgaon and nearby areas to participate in the procession with their families and seek the blessings of Baba Mahakal.
Religious Significance of the Sawan Palki Yatra
According to religious beliefs, during the holy month of Sawan, Lord Mahakal blesses devotees in the Chandramauleshwar form and fulfils their wishes. It is believed that participating in the Sawan Palki Yatra with devotion and offering prayers brings relief from illness, fear, suffering and hardships while blessing devotees with peace, prosperity and well-being.
